Environmentally Friendly Laundry Soap Uses

  Soap scrum and soap film on a plastic shower curtain can make it look dingy and old. Plus,, there's the problem of mold and mildew that can accumulate. To remove soap scum and keep mold problems at bay, place the shower curtain in the washing machine with a few large towels. Add detergent and the vinegar and wash on the gentle setting. Remove the curtain right after the spin cycle, and hang it back in the shower. Tip: To prevent future buildup after laundering, dip a clean washcloth in a cup (250ml) of vinegar, coat the curtain with a final dose of vinegar, and allow to air-dry.

  Dip silks (but do not soak) in a mixture of 2/3 cup (150ml) mild detergent, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, and 3 1/2 cups (900ml) of water. Rinse well, then roll in a heavy towel to soak up the excess moisture. Iron while still damp.

  1/4 cup (60ml) vinegar
  
  Baking soda is a great laundry aid for baby clothes because it helps neutralize the strong acids present in the bodily fluids of babies. Plus, being fragrance-free and water-soluble, it dissolves completely in the laundry water and doesn't leave behind harsh chemicals that can irritate a baby's delicate skin. To use, add the baking soda to the wash cycle along with the detergent. Add the vinegar to the rinse cycle to leave clothes naturally softened and ensure that all the detergent is properly removed.
