Car & Boat Leather Cleaning

• reviving leather upholstery
  Leather can be revived by wiping with a damp cloth sprinkled with a little white vinegar. 

• leather spot cleaner
  1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
  1 tablespoon (9g) cream of tartar
  
  Try spot-cleaning stains on light-colored leather with a paste made from equal parts lemon juice and cream of tartar. Apply in an even layer and let sit for an hour or two before wiping off with a damp, clean cloth. Note: Make sure to test on an inconspicuous area first, as the lemon could lighten some types of dye.

  Clean leather with a mixture of 2/3 cup (150ml) boiled linseed oil and 2/3 cup (150ml) vinegar. Carefully apply to any spots with a soft cloth and let dry. 

• leather conditioner
  1 tablespoon (15ml) vinegar
  2 tablespoons (30ml) linseed oil
  
  To clean and condition most leather items (except shoes, which are often made of a harder leather), use 1 part vinegar with 2 parts linseed oil. Mix the two together in a small glass container. Apply to leather furniture with a soft cloth and buff lightly. Note: Rags soaked in linseed oil are considered a fire hazard, so immediately soak them in water after use and never put them in the dryer.

  Remove water stains from leather by rubbing with a cltoh dipped in a vinegar-and-water solution.
